A rough Biography of the Band
2003 Somewhere between July to August
Jimple, Nukie and Rodel decided to regroup after their highschool band,
August Six ceased to grow.
Nukie and Rodel bought a second hand drum kit and "housed" it at Jimple's grandmother's abandoned house. Thus the name
Haunted Garage was coined. Factually the haunted garage wasn't really a garage per se, but an old room in that old mansion where the band usually jammed. But many said that it was haunted alright.
The band covered Radiohead songs and some of the band's first originals like "Clowns", "Bathala" and "Stale". They played their very first gig at Nukie's houseparty at San Antonio.
Later in that month, the band encountered a lot of personal friction between the members and eventually deteriorated. Simultaneous with the band's eviction from the haunted garage.
Jimple decided to keep the band and its name. During the San Antonio gig, he had the opportunity to meet other bands and musicians. Binat Pelaez (bass), Waks Ko (guitars) joined Jimple in the new Haunted Garage line-up. Jimzzy, Jimple's brother filled the drummer's slot.
The Haunted Garage sound is basically metal, though some observers notice its melodic and prog-rock timming. The band doesn't really care how they are labelled, for the band trully is a high-breed band composed of many influences from its members, namely black metal, ska, hardcore and the old school metal. What they are really proud about the band is that they are probably the first break-through band writing their own songs in the city of Tabaco. There are other bands out there who write their songs but they don't have the balls like this band to let it out and be heard.
Here are their major gigs so far for 2003:
August 23 - Daniel B. Pena Gymnasium
September 22 - Camp of the Tribes, B. U. Main campus
September 30 - Agawak Concert at Santo Domingo
October 15 - Sound Defined Battle of the Bands, where they emerged as champion
November 20 - Ground Zero, B. U. Main Campus
December 21 - Disturb the Peace, Tiwi Gymnasium
The band is currently working on their debut album tentatively titled
Ode to a Rotting City, which includes 8 or more originaly composed songs by Haunted Garage.
